Introduction

Management Information Systems is a term used to refer to information technology and business processes and the use of information systems. This report aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the utilization and performance of Management Systems (MIS) within Home Depot. It seeks to elucidate the essential components contributing to the company's success while emphasizing the acquisition of proficiency in Information Systems. Home Depot uses several platforms to drive store traffic, empower its associates and keep the shelves stocked. Data is collected from digital platforms such as websites, promotional emails and social media to target customers. By amalgamating our distinctive perspectives, conducting extensive research on Home Depot, and fostering an environment of collaborative innovation, this project aspires to serve as an educational blueprint, unlocking novel insights and fostering progress for the enterprise.  Our group will work with Home Depot’s Garwood branch, located at 200 South Ave, Garwood, NJ 07027. The business, led by Danielle Irwin, the store manager, employs 106 workers to manage the challenges of the retail sector. As a group we will study the POS system, checkout process, inventory management systems and provide recommendations to the Garwood branch. 


Company Information

The first two stores of Home Depot were opened June 22, 1979 in Atlanta, GA.  Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank are the founders and decided to create Home Depot after being fired from Handy Dan Home Improvement Centers. The concept was to provide a one-stop shopping location with an assortment of lumber, building materials and home improvement products. By 1986, the company had gone public and was trading on NASDAQ, opening a store in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and began focusing on Pro customers (contractors). In 2010, Home Depot was the first retailer to have an app on the top three smartphone platforms. Today, Home Depot is the largest home improvement retailer with more than 2,300 across the U.S, Canada and Mexico. They offer more than 1 million products for contractors,and  DIY customers.
